Douglas R. Colton Medal for Research Excellence

Canada’s National Design Network® (NDN), managed by CMC Microsystems, has honoured excellence in Canadian micro-nano research for more than 20 years through its annual Douglas R. Colton award. Recognizes excellence in research leading to new understanding and novel developments in microsystems and related technologies. This award includes a monetary prize of $4,500.  

Eligibility: Candidates for the award may be faculty, students or alumni who have successfully completed a Master's or PhD degree in a Canadian university within the previous three calendar years. Joint nominations with a microelectronics or microelectronics-related company are strongly encouraged.

Note: These are institutional, limited submission, nominations. Institutional Strategic Awards (ISA) coordinates the internal selection of nominees and/or institutional endorsements/external expert reviews. To promote equity, diversity and inclusion, departments and faculties should ensure that all eligible candidates are considered and given the opportunity to self-identify. To recommend a candidate to the President’s Advisory Committee on Awards, Honours and Prizes, please submit a candidate suggestion form at least three months in advance of the external deadline.
