Shaw Prize

The Shaw Prize is an international award to honour individuals who are currently active in their respective fields and who have recently achieved distinguished and significant advances, who have made outstanding contributions in academic and scientific research or applications, or who in other domains have achieved excellence. The award is dedicated to furthering societal progress, enhancing quality of life, and enriching humanity's spiritual civilization. The Prize consists of three annual prizes: Astronomy, Life Science and Medicine, and Mathematical Sciences, each bearing a monetary award of one million two hundred thousand US dollars.

Note: Restricted nominator (by invitation only).  Nominators shall include laureates of major prizes, scientists and senior personnel of the world’s key research institutions and universities, as well as members of different National Academy of Sciences and professional organizations. If an institutional nomination or external expert review of the draft nomination package is sought, please contact awards@sfu.ca at least three months in advance of the external deadline.
